Documentary Australia Foundation is proud to be an Executive Producer of Incarceration Nation and support their calls for truth-telling and change.
Australia was founded by the English with one clear purpose – to create a prison island. Over 200 years later, not much has changed; rather than housing criminals from England, we are filling our jails with our most vulnerable and disadvantaged population.
It is time for truth-telling. It is time for change. Incarceration Nation will put the system on trial.
The following contains images and voices of people who have passed, and images that may cause distress.
We acknowledge the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this nation. We acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and we pay our respects to ancestors and Elders, past, present and emerging.
